New Dawn Educational Center is located on the outskirts of the sprawling Runda Estate and borders Karura Forest. The center is found administratively in Karura sub-location of Parklands Division in Westlands District; Nairobi

BACKGROUND

New Dawn Educational Center is an educational institution established in 2006 to provide quality and affordable educational needs to the less privileged school going youth of both Huruma and Githogoro slums. The youth, some already of adult age could not afford secondary education due to low family incomes and the negative environmental influence depicted by abject poverty. As a result, many chose to idle around and occupy their time involving all kinds of wrong illegal enterprises and all manner of vices. This called for a window of opportunity to redeem the many school drop outs in these two slums.
